Mentorship program is a process in which faculty members of our department voluntarily guide our students both during their university life and throughout their careers, and contribute to the development of students by sharing their expertise and knowledge.

Mentorship program is an accompanying program to the academic advising. Within the scope of academic advising, only one faculty member can deal with each class of 60 students on average. In the mentorship program, volunteer faculty members and students who are willing to make career planning come together. Under this program, our students and faculty members come together several times each semester, either one-on-one or in group meetings.

Your mentors who share their experiences with you,

  • ⋅ Encourage you to focus on your strengths.
  • ⋅ Assist you in improving areas that are open to enhancement, such as foreign language learning and technology usage.
  • ⋅ Provide assistance in establishing both short-term and long-term goals related to your career.
  • ⋅ Offer advice on opportunities and threats you may encounter regarding your goals.
  • ⋅ Motivate you while reminding you of your responsibilities in the face of challenges towards reaching your goals.
  • ⋅ Facilitate communication with our alumni or other stakeholders who can contribute to your career development.

In order to benefit from the mentoring program efficiently,

  • ⋅ You should make sure to communicate with your mentor at least three times each semester at regular intervals.
  • ⋅ You should clearly define your career-related questions before going to your interviews.
  • ⋅ You should always share your achievements with your mentor throughout the process.

The mentorship program starts in the spring semester of the first year. Since career planning is a long process, we recommend that you get involved in the spring semester of your second year at the latest.
