Res. Asst. Emre Karabulutoğlu, a faculty member of the Department of Economics, shared his research experience with colleagues as part of the 2214-A TÜBİTAK International Research Fellowship Program for PhD Students. Between September 1, 2024, and September 1, 2025, Karabulutoğlu conducted research at the University of Bologna in Italy in the field of population studies, focusing on climate change, migration, and early marriage.
The session began with opening remarks by Dean Prof. Dr. Gökhan Demirtaş. During the meeting, faculty members who had previously participated in TÜBİTAK programs abroad shared their insights regarding university selection, the application process, challenges faced during the fellowship, academic gains, and opportunities for international collaboration.
Speakers emphasized the valuable opportunities offered by TÜBİTAK scholarships and noted that international academic experiences contribute significantly to both personal academic development and the research capacity of the faculty. Presentations particularly highlighted interdisciplinary collaboration, methodological innovations, prospects for joint publications and projects, and the expansion of academic networks.
Faculty members who attended the session expressed that such experience-sharing meetings are highly beneficial for academics considering applications to international programs. The faculty administration announced that similar events would continue to be held regularly and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting a culture of participation in international research funding.
